Bhoot Part One The Haunted Ship Movie Review:
Bhoot hai, doll hai, love story hai hate story bhi and scary music... What else is needed to make a film on a ghost in Bollywood. After starting the year with 'Ghost Stories', Karan Johar has come up with Dharma Productions horror movie 'Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship' . It was claimed in the promotion of this film that it will be different from other Bollywood horror films, however, there are not very good films made in the horror genre in Bollywood. So does the film live up to its claims, let's find out...
Bhoot Part One The Haunted Ship Movie Review: Story
This is the story of shipping officer Prithvi ( Vicky Kaushal ) whose wife ( Bhumi Pednekar ) and daughter have died by drowning in a water accident. Many years have passed since this incident but he has not been able to move on. When a haunted ship named Sea Bird stops at a beach in Mumbai, Prithvi and his fellow officer Riyaz (Akash Dhar), who is also Prithvi's best friend, gets the responsibility of escorting him from there.
When Prithvi goes inside the ship to investigate, many untoward incidents happen to him and he realizes that there is someone other than him. But he wants to get to the bottom of those incidents, in this he is joined by Professor Joshi (Ashutosh Rana) and his friend Riyaz. Seeing Ashutosh, it seems that he has come straight from the first Raaz movie, there is no novelty in his character nor any strong story is associated with him, They do not have any special work except reciting mantras in front of ghosts. Riyaz (Aakash Dhar) has got a good amount of screen space which is why he doesn't understand as he also has nothing to do. The entire command of the film rests on the shoulders of Vicky Kaushal. He also manages to keep the audience hooked with his excellent acting, but due to repeated scenes and weak script, his brilliant acting also does not save the film. Bhumi Pednekar is remembered even in a small role.
Bhoot Part One The Haunted Ship Movie Review: Direction
The film is directed by Bhanu Pratap Singh, Yash's debut film. Bhanu has tried to maintain the atmosphere of fear from the very first scene, he succeeds in this too, there are many such scenes in the first half which can scare you and you think maybe this time a good horror movie from Bollywood is going to be available. But by the time you come to the interval, you understand that no this film is also not that film. The film starts sinking after the interval. There are many secrets in the first half, which we are waiting to open, when those secrets are revealed in the second half, then there is disappointment. The climax of the film is also weak.
Bhoot Part One The Haunted Ship Movie Review: Graphics
The graphics and make-up of the film are good. The background scores are good in some places but loud at some places. Because of the music, we know that something is going to go wrong, so many scenes are less startling. Editing is also average, cinematography is definitely good.
Bhoot Part One The Haunted Ship Movie Review: Music
There is only one song in the film which is romantic and comes at the beginning of the film. The song is lovely, and moves the story forward.
