Bhavai Movie Review:

Prateek Gandhi, who became famous for his series Scam 1992 on the OTT platform, has made his Bollywood debut through Raavan Leela, i.e. Bhavai. The film was earlier titled Ravana Leela, but its trailer sparked the mythology that social media started smouldering. Hence the name of the film was changed and named 'Bhavai'. The film was released so quietly (as if there was a risk of controversy) that it was not visible on social media. Still, if the film is released, then the review is done. So let's know what Ravana Leela, aka Bhavai, says.

This is the first Bollywood film of Prateek Gandhi, and this is also the first film of director Hardik Gajjar. In the first film, Prateek and Hardik sit ready to take on the iron. He has indeed shown tremendous courage by taking Gujarat's background and mythological subject in hand. In the age of controversies and trolls, intelligent people can associate such courage with the proverb of 'havan Karte haath all, but after watching the film, this perception can change, I believe.

The centuries-old Ramlila, which takes place across the country in October, continues to simultaneously narrate the film's love story. When the trailer was released, there were many uproars and allegations that Prateek and Hardik were glorifying Ravana together.

Bhavai Movie Review: Story

The film's story is that the hero who becomes Ravana in Ramlila falls in love with the girl who became Sita. When love sprouts between characters who play mythological characters on stage in real life, how does its action, reaction, and outcome reach the mob in the rural setting? How does this anecdote cross between religion, politics and drama and advance the public's court? I tried to show this.

The centre of the film in the village of Khankhar in Gujarat, where people assume the characters of the stage as Ram, Sita and Ravana. He sees Lord Ram, and the character who becomes Ram at the gate stops him without an outfit. In fact, in our country, how people see the people living a character in a play, film or show by fitting them into the actual character is what the film shows. If you watch the movie objectively, many issues can fall in your lap, like how there can be something emotional between Ravana and Sita. A large section of the Indian community that has memorized the Ramayana may ideologically object to the film. Still, you can find this film just fine in things like a simple love story, local background, filming.

Suppose anything is worth discussing in the film, Prateek Gandhi's character. Prateek Gandhi has got the character of Raja Ram Joshi. Prateek Woh Rajaram Bana Hai lives up to his character on stage. Just as an actor usually returns to his real-life after leaving the stage, Prateek Gandhi also descends into real life, where he falls in love with the returned queen after playing Sita. There is a tightness in Prateek Gandhi's performance. His eyes also ask questions and are also seen searching for answers. Whether the film is a hit or a flop, it will not make much difference to Prateek Gandhi because his performance tells Bollywood that a new name will be added to the serious actors.

Apart from Prateek Gandhi, Aindrita Rai, Abhimanyu Singh, Ankur Vikal, Ankur Bhatia, Rajesh Sharma, Rajendra Gupta etc., have also done a great job in the film. The beauty of the rural area has been engraved in the right way.

Bhavai Movie Review: Dialogues

One more thing was noticed, some of the dialogues in the film's trailer had hurt the audience's faith, after which Hardik has muted those dialogues. That is, the lips of the characters move but what they are saying is not clear. Hardik has said his point but differently.

Bhavai Movie Review: Direction

Let's talk about direction. Had Hardik ignored the objections raised during the trailer, the film would have turned out as he had imagined. Though sharp questions are not digested, they do leave an impact. He has risked raising a controversial issue, but this risk overshadowed his hesitation.

Now many types of viewers and many types of objections. In doing so, Hardik became like a tailor who, on every complaint, made the film cut short. This created turbulence in the story, but it also affected the texture of the script, and the story also failed to get that colour. Hardik took the risk of showing the love of Ravana and Sita, but due to hesitation of opposition, he could not take it on the screen properly.

Bhavai Movie Review: Why you see the Bhavai Movie

The film will look good if you look at it as a love story by thinking beyond mythology.
