Rashmi Rocket Movie Review:

Do say that in our house, what will happen if the mothers and sisters in our house fulfil their responsibilities while doing household chores, they start taking a salary for these works? The hefty salary we work in big offices and call ourselves responsible. No one ever asked a mother how much salary she should get for her responsibility? It is said that the highest status in the world is that of a mother, but a mother is a woman before being a 'mother', and how generous our society is towards a woman is not hidden from anyone. Taapsee Pannu's film Rashmi Rocket is doing the work of lifting the curtain from this 'generosity' of society towards women.

Releasing on Dussehra, Taapsee Pannu's film Rashmi Rocket is the story of a flamboyant sprinter who does not lose sight of people climbing the heights. Whose secretly gets a gender test and is barred from running.

Rashmi Rocket Movie Review: Story

The story begins when two male cops barge into a girls' hostel and arrest Rashmi (Taapsee Pannu) by forcibly dragging her out of her room. While making fun of Rashmi, one also said abusive words to her.

The film shows Rashmi's childhood and her family in Bhuj through flashbacks. Growing up, the city calls Rashmi 'Rocket', who works as a tourist guide. In a meeting, Rashmi meets Captain Gagan (Priyanshu Painyuli). In the very first meeting, Rashmi falls in love with Gagan. Instead of beauty, Gagan's heart comes when Rashmi is flirtatious.

Gagan discovers Rashmi's talent when she runs to save the life of her colleague. Seeing Rashmi's speed, Gagan encourages her to become an athlete. Soon Rashmi Veera of Bhuj becomes the country's rising star 'Rashmi Rocket'.

Rashmi's astonishing performance in the 2004 Asian Games manages to attract everyone's attention. But her talent falls victim to a conspiracy by the members of the Athletics Association. After a gender test, Rashmi is declared that she is a man. In this situation, he meets a lawyer, Ishit (Abhishek Banerjee), who wants to get him justice. Will 'Rashmi' succumb to her fate, or will she fight the prejudices and conspiracy of society to better the women athletes of India? The story of Rashmi Rocket proceeds in this sequence.

Rashmi Rocket Movie Review: Acting

Taapsee Pannu has been very admirable about her choice of films because she has probably tried to improve on her own whatever kind of acting she has done in her career so far. She has constantly been proving that Bollywood is now changing in terms of female lead characters through her movies. Mere glamour on screen may not guarantee a film's success. Taapsee traces her journey from an athlete to a woman who fights for justice through the film. When she starts losing during this fight, she always motivates herself to win by saying, "Har Jeet toh result hai, Prayas Hamara kaam hai". Taapsee Pannu has also been winning people's hearts with her acting, perhaps by following this mantra.

Priyanshu Painyuli, in the onscreen role of a friend-to-husband, ties up with Taapsee and always supports Rashmi Rocket till the finish line with her acting as she strives to make an impactful film. Abhishek Banerjee does well as a lawyer, and people are now meeting his talent. Supriya Pathak's equation with Taapsee Pannu keeps the love and brawl in the middle of their relationship. The rest of the cast, including Varun Badola, Mantra, Akash Khurana, Shweta Tripathi and Supriya Pilgaonkar, are effective in their respective roles.

Rashmi Rocket Movie Review: Technical side

Congratulations to director Akarsh Khurana and his team for making a sports-themed film. Through this film, he not only gathered the courage to talk on a sensitive subject but has also drawn the attention of people through this film towards 'gender test' and hyperandrogenism, which has been hotly debated for a long time. Her film exposes society's perception of female athletes and the politics of the sports world. Taapsee Pannu starrer The film brings to the fore the case of Indian sprinter Dutee Chand whose validity of the gender test was questioned.

In other aspects of the technical side, Taapsee Pannu's body language as Rashmi is precisely like an athlete. Along with the story of an athlete, the film also offers an excellent courtroom drama, which, after watching, feels like it has been made with terrific research. Keeping in mind the human rights and Articles of the Constitution, through this film, an attempt has been made to hurt even those laws which are unnecessary for today's time.

Rashmi Rocket Movie Review: Where does the film disappoint?

In the initial phase, the story of the film takes time to catch a little rhythm, due to which the audience can face the boredom of connecting with the story in the first 20 minutes. While showing the importance of Taapsee's character, some dramatic aspects emerge, like Gagan's partner's foot is about to fall on the land mines when Taapsee Rashmi saves him by running.

However, the famous Urdu poet Asrarul Haque 'Majaz' (1911–1955) had encouraged women to fight for their just position in the world, saying - Tere marathon pe ye aanchal about bahu hai but, it is aanchal. It would have been nice to have made a Marcham from it. Taapsee Pannu's film Rashmi probably mentions this 'Paracham' of Rocket Mazza again.
