Shershaah Movie Review:

Kargil war hero Captain Vikram Batra was martyred 22 years ago while fighting for the country. Due to his indomitable courage and patriotism, the Indian Army had won the victory against the Pakistani soldiers. The bravery of Vikram Batra in the Kargil war made him famous all over the country. At the age of 24, he laid down his life for the country's pride and was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously. As a tribute to his legacy, the film 'Sher Shah' has been released on Amazon Prime. It stars Bollywood hotshot Sidharth Malhotra in Captain Vikram Batra's role and his twin brother Vishal Batra.

As the film's trailer and songs also suggest, the film's plot will focus on the bravery of martyr Captain Vikram Batra and his personal life. Vishnuvardhan has maintained this special jugalbandi - the war zone and the feelings of love between the two people from the beginning to the end of the film. The film's story is told by Vishal Batra, brother of Vikram Batra, and the story is done in the form of flashback narration, prompting the viewer to know the story of a martyr.

Shershaah Movie Review: Story

Vikram Batra (Siddharth Malhotra) hails from Palampur, a small town in Himachal Pradesh. Since childhood, his dream has been to become an army officer. When his dream comes true, Vikram brings glory to the country with bravery and indomitable courage. Impressed by his bravery, Vikram and his team were deployed in the Kargil War in 1999. Parallel to this story, the love story of Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema (Kiara Advani) also goes together. How does Vikram Batra hoist the country's flag at Point 4875 in the Kargil War? And how does his love story with Dimple Cheema take a turn? This is the basic story of the film.

Shershaah Movie Review: Dialogues

The dialogues of the film, in particular, are the lifeblood of this film. The dialogues used in the film's trailer and the timing of these dialogues in the original story are very important in themselves. Especially this dialogue - " There is no status greater than a soldier, there is no glory greater than the pride of the uniform, and there is no religion greater than the country " in itself is enough to tell the summary of Vikram Batra's life. Vikram Batra's talk is also no less than a great script - " Either I will come by waving the tricolour, or I will come wrapped in the tricolour. But I will come! " This dialogue is not from any film, but Vikram himself while talking to his friend Batra's tongue. This cheerfulness of Vikram Batra makes him a perfect subject for a biopic.

Shershaah Movie Review: Filming

The hard work of the film's production unit is visible on the screen of the film. Shooting War-Zone with the Himalayan hills in mind is difficult in itself, but director Vishnuvardhan has made a good impact in his first Hindi film. Tamil directors use their experience and end the film with a lot of emotion and pride, decently keeping the film. He has shown the Kargil war in detail. If they had used better actors for the supporting cast, things would have gone to the next level.

The battle scenes look real. Cinematographer Kamaljit Negi's camera showed two sides of the lush green Kashmir. In 'Sher Shah', the crackling rocks, dust clouds and firing of bullets from behind the bunker of Kashmir's plaintiffs look very real. The 2 hours 15-minute Shershaah is a sleek film in which there was no deviation from its story. It would have been better if the film had come on the big screen, which would be regrettable.

Shershaah Movie Review: Acting

Sidharth Malhotra, who has made his mark as a chocolate boy for more than a decade, has done many films in his career to maintain this image. While films like 'Kapoor & Sons, 'Baar Baar Dekho' and 'Hasee Toh Phasee' established his lover boy image, Sidharth Malhotra came out of this comfort zone in films like 'Brothers' and 'Marjaavaan'. Vikram Batra's character in 'Shershaah' is a shared experience of Sidharth Malhotra's revamping of his previous characters.

The chemistry of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani was very good in the film. Siddharth was in the character of Vikram Batra, but during the film, Kiara looked natural in gestures. It seemed that she was living the character of Dimple Cheema. Especially the song "Chup Mahi Chup Hai Ranjha/Bole Kaisi Ve Na Jaa... " adds to the emotions between the two and the beauty of the film, in which Kiara's expressions are commendable.

Shershaah Movie Review: Where the film disappoints

The film's only drawback is that the film has a weak supporting cast. Apart from Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, none of the actors particularly impress. Had there been some well-known actors, the film would have been more entertaining. However, it is a tedious task to find and cast similar faces from the Kargil jawans and those of Vikram Batra's family.

All in all, 'Shershaah', packed with gripping war drama and good action blocks and impactful emotions, can take pride in being the biopic of the glorious life of Kargil hero Vikram Batra.
