Thalaivii Movie Review:

When you think of 'J Jayalalithaa's character on the silver screen, your mind starts revolving around that great political figure. Amid the big cutouts, the bottomless crowd has a great sound—greetings from millions of hands bouncing among the mortals. In the midst of all this, the presence of only one personality, which can only be J Jayalalithaa, the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. As grand as it sounds, it isn't easy to bring them down on the silver screen. Live on-screen from 16 to 42 years old at the age of 34 by imbibing a strong character like J Jayalalithaa, losing weight, carrying heavy costumes and prosthetic loads to make a legendary figure 'Thavaivi' on the silver screen. Bringing it alive must have been challenging for Kangana Ranaut. Playing this character, Kangana must have gone through many phases, just for one perfect shot. But it's 'perfect' How will the shots sound to the audience? We should leave the answer to this question to the audience.

Thalaivi, the biopic of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, is set to hit the theatres on September 10.

Thalaivii Movie Review: Story

'Thalaivi' is the story of a famous actress 'Jaya' (Kangana Ranaut) becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The story begins in 1965, when Jayalalithaa, 16, is a rising actress in Tamil cinema. Jaya agrees to step into films at her mother's behest (Bhagyashree). While shooting for films, Jaya gets a chance to act alongside MJR (Aravind Swamy), one of the biggest superstars of Tamil cinema. MJR likes Jaya's flirtation. On many occasions, Jaya stays with MJR; rather, MJR and Jaya have started liking being together. However, their cohabitation puts MJR's PA R M Veerappan (Raj Arjun) jeopardy. A superstar and an established politician in a patriarchal society do not consider it okay to have a non-woman other than his wife.

Veerappan believes that MJR's love for Jaya could spell doom for the superstar. After the death of Anna Durai, MJR makes an official debut in politics, and he joins the DMK under the leadership of M Karunanidhi (Nassar). Karunanidhi won the state election with a record margin, and one of the reasons is that MJR campaigned for him. The sad part for Karunanidhi was that MJR could not attend party meetings. Moreover, he was becoming more popular than Karunanidhi among the people. After this conflict, MJR left the DMK and formed his party.

Veerappan advises MJR to stay away from Jaya before it creates problems in his political career. Given the social order and the current political disputes, MJR is forced to agree with Veerappan. After knowing this truth, Jaya is very sad. The story moves forward ten years... When MJR becomes Chief Minister for the second time.

Along with MJR, Jaya also ages. Seeing the age requirements, Jaya gets offered the role of the heroine's elder sister in films. Apart from movies, she also starts doing dance shows. Meanwhile, Jaya meets MJR again at a government event in Madurai. MJR asks Jaya to join his party. Jaya refuses them, but an incident during her return to Chennai leaves a deep impression on Jaya. After this incident, Jaya officially debuts in politics. How does Jaya reach Rajya Sabha? What are the conflicts he has to face during his stay in politics? How does Jaya, as Jayalalithaa, come to power as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu? The same development is in the expansion of the film. Thalaivii Movie Review: Filming

There is a huge difference between symbolically wearing one's grandeur and living that character. However, Kangana has gone beyond her age and body structure to play the character of Jayalalithaa. To make the difference seem less in reality, he increased and decreased his weight. It is difficult to portray a character on the silver screen in 1960s films with the burden of heavy costumes, which a good effort has been made to play.

The story detail of the film takes many incidents together. Many scenes of the film are not shot without Kangana, or one can say, the melodrama filmed in abundance in these scenes was not missed. Filmmakers face many challenges in maintaining the interestingness of the film, such as giving place to those scenes in their films that people may not know. As 'Propaganda Secretary', Jaya's departure in public with stones in her hands... adds to the excitement level. It was used in every possible way to maintain the theatrical level in the film. The suspense of the election results when Jayalalithaa's party came into the opposition and then came to power as chief minister seems like a sequence from a TV soap. The film moves at its own pace in the first half but loses its momentum in connecting the episodes. Although,

Thalaivii Movie Review: Technical Side

It is a common tendency of a viewer to cast a villain as the opposite of the hero. After Jayalalithaa enters politics, the faces of opposition party leaders and M Karunanidhi look exactly like the traditional villains of a Bollywood film. The fantasy has been crafted with such an artistic vision that was walking on the screen gives a sense of its reality. The credit behind this can be seen not of director Vijay but to other characters played apart from Jayalalithaa. Apart from Kangana, this film will also be remembered for its supporting cast. However, apart from 'Chali-Chali' as the music in the film, there is no song that is worthy of enticing the mind. The zonal effect is seen in many of the background scores heard in support of the scenes, As if it has been made keeping in mind the audience of South only. It isn't easy to distinguish between the texture and texture of the film setup of the 60s-70s, as it was an era of bright colours, which were taken care of while writing the screenplay. Overall, the film's story approaches its end in a gap of average in some aspects and better in some aspects.

Thalaivii Movie Review: Acting

Kangana, Kangana and Kangana... It is natural if such feelings come to mind before watching the film. But it is not only Kangana in the film. Rather, there is also the character of Arvind Swami and Raj Arjun, who compete with Kangana Ranaut's acting at their respective levels. Kangana worked hard for this film, whose glimpse is visible. She has tried to adapt the age gap and the seriousness of her personality to her character, and she has been successful. Filmmakers can hardly find a better actor than Arvind Swamy in MG Ramachandran. Raj Arjun can be proud of his actions in the character of RM Veerappan. He can get his identity from 'Secret Superstar' and from 'Thalaivi'. Nassar has done better in the character of M Karunanidhi.

Apart from Jayalalithaa's political career, how important was MG Ramachandran's presence in her life... Think of it as the film's core, and with this goal in mind, the film can entertain you. Otherwise, the ratio of strengths and flaws in the film is equal.
