Durgamati Movie Review:
Durgamati has proved that remakes of Tamil superhit films will not be superhit every time. Bollywood should understand this thing now.
As a producer, Akshay Kumar would not have imagined such a fate while releasing Durgamati on the OTT platform. Yes, we are talking about the film Durgamati directed by Ashok, which Akshay Kumar and Vikram Malhotra jointly produce, and the heroine of the film is Bhumi Pednekar, famous for her experimental role. Durgamati was a remake of the Tamil superhit film Bhagmati, but the film's fate did not shine like Bhagmati. A weak script has broken the backbone of the direction. The story has also become weak due to inserting multiple angles in the same story, and the climax is so predictable that you will forget the film within a few minutes, even if you are on the ground.
Durgamati Movie Review: Production
First, let's talk about the production aspect. Although Akshay must have seen every angle of this film and tested it, he has missed it somewhere. Akshay, who had taken the brunt as an actor in the Tamil remake of the superhit film Lakshmi, has made another mistake as a producer, which is Durgamati. Laxmi was also a remake of the superhit Kanchana which could not be successfully landed on-screen, and Durgamati can be called the second mistake in this sequence.
Durgamati Movie Review: Direction
Talking about the direction, Ji Ashok is completely confused about setting the stage for the film. Many characters in the story seem to be forced. Overacting, loud and average scenes weaken the film. If the film was of a horror angle, what was the need to introduce an angle of politics? This Ji Ashok would have known. But he could not explain this to the audience. The cinematography, the music, whichever side you look at, everything is so weak that one has to work hard to find something better.
Durgamati Movie Review: Acting
Now let's talk about acting. There are so many Star Casts in the film. Why did Bhumi, who has made a mark for her versatile characters, sign this film? This question should arise first. She is not freezing while doing horror scenes. Their shouting, fear, and rage are not justified. In many scenes, it seems as if he is being pressured from behind the camera to shout.
Mahi Gill's work can be fine, although her role has not been completely settled. Arshad Warsi has also tried to do justice to his character, although his acting range is huge, and in that sense, this film was not for him. But still, he was fine. Jisshu Sengupta has left many people behind in overacting. It seems as if the director has left them open, do whatever you want to do.
Durgamati Movie Review: Audience
Now let's talk about the audience. See, it is very important to understand that Durgamati is a film of that episode made only to sell. That is, pick up any story in a very small amount, how the film is made, neither the producer nor the director is interested in it. Even the stars have nothing to do with its plot. Now that the film is made, then sell it on OTT. There is no risk that if the audience comes less in the cinema hall, how will the loss be met. The producer got the money at once. Now no one cares what the audience is getting.
