The Empire Movie Review:

Among the poems of Amir Khusrau, written in Persian along with Khadi Hindi and Braj Bhasha, it must have compelled his compatriots to look at India with a longing gaze forever. However, call it the gluttony of power or the expansion of their empire... How would the Mughals have viewed India? This could be part of the debate. In today's new nationalist consciousness, there may be uniformity in the concept of the intention of the Mughals and their feelings towards India. Still, how the Mughal Sultanate would have occupied the heart of India, this story was told through 'The Empire' web series on Disney + Hotstar—trying to say.

Babar's story was shown in the first season of the series 'The Empire' based on 'Riders from the North', the first episode of Alex Rutherford's series of novels 'Empire of the Muggle'. Perhaps the story of the emperors of the entire Mughal Sultanate should be shown through different seasons of this series.

The Empire Movie Review: Story

It is said that the blood of two invaders runs in Babur's veins, who had come to India to plunder rather than their expansionist policies. Babur is a descendant of Timur from the father's side and Genghis Khan from the maternal side. However, the series begins with the battle of Panipat, where Ibrahim Lodi and Babar (Kunal Kapoor) are fighting. Babur is in a lot of trouble at that time, but he manages to save his life with the help of one of his generals. Babar gets lost in his life 30 years ago and his stories while talking to the constable who gave life's mercy to 'Badshah Salamat', where his father Umar Sheikh Mirza, mother Qutlug Nigaar Khanum, strict Dil Nani (Shabana Azmi) and sister Khanzada (Drishti Dhami).

The rise of the father's shadow at an early age makes Babur premature. But due to family conflicts and gluttony of power, Babur has to face challenges from his own. The eight-episode story follows Babur's struggle to save the crown of Fargana and Samarkand from Shabani Khan (Dino Mauria) and then register a victory for India.

The conflicts within Babur are much bigger than that of an emperor. The challenge before him is to save his sister. According to the story of the series, Babur is a peaceful king and wishes to put his sultanate at stake for himself. The story of the series tells that Babar is not a bloodthirsty but a soft-hearted and philosophical person. Babar, dressed in a sheet of morality, has been presented as a patient hero in the series.

The Empire Movie Review: Acting

Kunal Kapoor has always been better at dialogue delivery with his voice projection. In this series, too, he has maintained his same legacy. He has tried to play Babur's character and his conflicts better. After 'Rang De Basanti', perhaps Kunal Kapoor should be remembered for this series. Shabana Azmi does better as a tough granny with ageing wrinkles, and she used her experience to the best of her ability. Drishti Dhami has also taken to play her character better. Dino Mauria's career needed this series, which was in great need of Dino Mauria's acting. As a villain in the series, he has demonstrated his brilliant acting as a stone-hearted human being.

The Empire Movie Review: Technical Side

If you look at this series divided into eight episodes, then this series seems to be stuck somewhere in the 'Padmavat' and 'Game of Thrones' extension. However, the story of the series demands scenes to be shot on a big screen. The adaptation of the conflict of characters of the story into a drama is like testing the audience's patience. The series consists of 8 episodes, and each episode is over 40 minutes long, making it difficult for the viewers to strike a chord with the storyline. Despite all this, this series holds a different place in front of the rest of the web series of today due to its appearance. The grandeur of the set and the use of vaulted buildings are designed keeping in mind the pre-Mughal art. The selection of costume designs along with oxidised jewellery is very much reminiscent of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's films, or rather,

The Empire Movie Review: Where does the series disappoint

Although it was made from the concept of the series, many scenes of 'The Empire' demand the big screen. If the series had been made keeping the Indian audience in mind, then the war scenes could have been increased by reducing the side of the drama a bit. Apart from the four main characters - Kunal Kapoor, Dino Morea, Shabana Azmi, and Drishti Dhami, the rest of the cast was negligible in the series.

For a long time, the fans of Kunal Kapoor and Dino Mauria will want their better performance, and then those fans will like this series. However, suppose you are watching this series for knowledge of history. In that case, it is better to read a good book because the drama of emotional conflict in conquering forts does not give knowledge of history.
