Bhuj: The Pride of India Movie Review:
War-drama films in the past few years have often been guaranteed to be a hit in Bollywood, and with outstanding VFX on it, then it's icing on the cake! But Ajay Devgan's film 'Bhuj: The Pride of India', released on Disney Plus Hotstar on August 13, is stuck somewhere between these two. This film passes through that legacy, whose makers have made a great film like 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior'. If you want to make an excellent dish and use 36 types of spices in it, hoping that it will turn out to be great, then sometimes such a dish does not come under the limelight. The same happened with this film of Ajay Devgan.
Bhuj: The Pride of India Movie Review: Story
During the Indo-Pak War of 1971, 300 local women risked their lives to restore the Indian Air Force's Bhuj airbase, destroyed by Pakistani bombings, to prevent ground and airstrikes from Pakistan. To protect the country. Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik (Ajay Devgan) encourages the local women to help them repair the runway on a war footing. The film recounts the courageous local citizens of Bhuj and the contribution of the Indian Armed Forces.
Bhuj: The Pride of India Movie Review: Filming
However, at the beginning of the film, the makers made it clear in the disclaimer that the film is fiction inspired by true events. It passes through many dramatic sides at the level of re-telling history through cinematic scenes. On the technical side, the film also undergoes aberrations in its storytelling. Flashback could have been used better for the movie's story so that the side of the story could be better caught in the viewer's mind. But the present-day audience can try to connect with the film through this thought process, as they say, 'everything is fair in love and war!'
The film serves to impose emotional sides. While the construction of the Bhuj airbase was a secretive act to protect against future Pakistani attacks, the loud hymns being sung along with the drums and drums showed in the film seem beyond logic. In reality, during the construction of this airbase, the women of Bhuj were dressed in green, and cow dung was used at the airbase to hide from the PAF planes. By giving the initial disclaimer on the pretext of fiction, the makers cannot escape the responsibility of keeping the reality at the level of truth. It isn't easy to test such dramatic scenes on the test of logic. The writer should have been more thoughtful while preparing the film's script.
Bhuj: The Pride of India Movie Review: Technical Side
Beyond the reality and the use of bad VFX shots, it feels like an old-timey video game. Like Ajay Devgan's previous films, NY VFXWAALA has taken up VFX in this film, but like the story of 1 hour 53 minutes film for War film, VFX also seems to be made in a hurry. Like the hair-raising VFX of 'Tanhaji The Unsung Warrior', this film was also expected, but the saying of showing everything in a short time leaves some leeway. However, the background score of the film works better on VFX. The cinematic feel of the scenes is attractive due to these background scores.
Bhuj: The Pride of India Movie Review: Cast and Acting
Ajay Devgan, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Sharad Kelkar, Amy Virk, and Nora Fatehi have done well. In this film, some characters have been given preference like 'Tanhaji the Unsung Warrior', for example - Ajay Devgan played 'Tanhaji' and Sharad Kelkar played 'Shivaji'. . Talking about cameo roles in movies, casting Navni Parihar as former PM Indira Gandhi seems like bringing back this character from the old TV series, yes. Still, the wrinkles on her face are visible more than before...
If you are a fan of Ajay Devgan and want to watch a film full of patriotism on the occasion of 15th August, then you will like this film. The contribution of the women of Bhuj to the country in the 1971 war in Bollywood and the wisdom of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik can be remembered through this film.
